Tsurumi builds submersible pumps for continuous duty rather than intermittent household use, and the range splits by what the pump is being asked to move.

The HS and HSE series are the basement and light jobsite sump pumps, from the 1/2 HP HSE2.4S up to the 1 HP HS3.75S with a 3 inch discharge and a built-in agitator that keeps solids in suspension.

The LB and LBT series are pit pumps. The LB-480A fits an elevator pit 7-5/16 inches across, the LB-800A drops into an 8 inch pit with 50 feet of cable, and the LB-1500 handles heavier drainage.

The NK series is the heavy-duty sump and dewatering line, from the NK2-15 up to the NK4-22, with a K15-SK sand kit available for abrasive water.

How to Choose a Tsurumi Pump by Solids, Head and Pit Size

Start with the water, not the horsepower. Clear water in a finished basement is a semi-vortex impeller job. Water carrying sand or grit needs the agitator models or a sand kit, because abrasives destroy a standard impeller long before the motor gives out.

Then check the pit. The diameter on each listing is the number that decides whether a pump physically fits, and it rules out more models than flow rate does.

Then match discharge bore and head. A 2 inch discharge suits residential and light commercial runs. Step up to 3 inch or larger where the pump has to lift a long way or move volume fast, since a narrow bore throttles a capable motor.

Across the range, the double inside mechanical seal with silicon carbide faces and the oil chamber between the seals are what let these pumps run continuously. That construction is the reason a Tsurumi costs more than a big box sump pump and lasts several times longer.
