When we imagine a rocket launch, our minds immediately think to fire and its visually dynamic role in lift off. If the sound generated at lift off is not properly shielded by sheets of water, the acoustical energy can reflect back at the rocket. This would have many negative impacts on the performance of the rocket. To protect the rocket and launch pad from damage, approximately 450,000 gallons of water need to be released by the water deluge system. The sheer amount of the water utilized and its pertinence to the performance of the rocket necessitates quality pumps to pressurize the water tubes of the system.
